As we are now well into a brand-new year, halfway through another decade we find our industry in a very exciting, dynamic and interesting space. Precipitous fuel price drops since mid-2014 has airlines crowing about new profits and buyers lamenting the slow reduction of fuel surcharges; the sharing economy continues to drive a whole new debate about where these providers fit (or don’t) into the corporate travel world; and the improving US economy is being offset by a slowdown in growth in China not seen since the 90’s while Europe continues to battle the doldrums.
As I said back in my first posting, despite all these challenges I still believe that it’s never been a better time to be in corporate travel. However, we at ACTE know that even when our roles in shaping our industry are more important than ever, we also know how hard it is to do these jobs well without the right experience, determination – and support.
It’s on this last point that ACTE hears you and we’ve taken the feedback from our members all around the world to enhance our “four pillars” offering to include a fifth pillar this year – the ACTE Community.
Buyers and suppliers alike have told us that they are seeking a year-round, multi-channel and multi-medium approach to networking, collaboration and education and we aim to ensure we can provide that to you. In addition to our plans for hosting over 60 in-person events throughout 2015, we will also bring our 2nd global online conference to your desktops, enhance our in-person events with pre- and post-event interactivity, and provide new ways for all of our members to engage and collaborate with each other.
Any community, however, is nothing without the people in it – and this is where you all come in. As we invest in new techniques, platforms, mediums and methods to engage with you, we want and need your feedback and input to make sure we are hitting the mark. To that end, I’ve devised a short poll below to allow you a quick and easy way to start telling us what you think. Let us know what you’d like to see more of, less of or brand new from ACTE and we’ll keep you posted on our progress.
It’s also not too early to start thinking about attending our first global conference of 2015 – ACTE’s Global Education Conference, April 12-14 in Atlanta Georgia. This event has always brought together our supplier, buyer and thought leaders as a community and this year we will continue to expand and enhance the experience for everyone attending. Mark the dates in your calendar and we hope to see you all there!
